In keeping with our tradition of innovation, we have taken the classic ball hitch and revolutionized it. Today, we give you the patented Freedom Pivot Ball Hitch (US Patent 7,988,178).
What is it, and why do I need it?
A major apprehension for many motorcyclists who want to tow a trailer behind a bike is the fear of coupler binding which can flip the trailer. With the Freedom Pivot Ball Hitch from The USA Trailer Store, you can reduce or eliminate those fears. The Freedom Ball is a 1-7/8 " ball hitch assembly that you mount by bolting it to the hitch support at the rear of your motorcycle. Unlike traditional ball hitches, the Freedom Pivot Ball Hitch allows your motorcycle to lean freely in a turn without binding. When you reduce the risk of coupler binding, you reduce the chance of flipping your trailer or, even worse, flipping your bike and injuring yourself or someone you love.
How does it work?
When you lean your motorcycle to the right or left in a turn, the design holds the ball in the vertical position by allowing the base of the hitch to move in the opposite direction of the bike without causing your trailer to bind - as it could possibly do with a conventional ball hitch. And, unlike a swivel coupler, the Freedom Pivot Ball Hitch is not attached to your trailer, so there are no parts to retrofit. That is not the case with the swivel coupler. If you were to purchase a swivel coupler for installation on an existing trailer, you would have to drill and sometimes even cut or weld the parts in order to adapt the coupler to your trailer. You would have to drill, cut, and weld all of your trailers. The Freedom Pivot Ball Hitch is easy. Simply attach it to your motorcycle as you would a standard ball. So, one Freedom Pivot Ball Hitch gives you the freedom to use it with all of your trailers and to share it with all of your friends and family.
Features
Allows for appreciable lean - reduces risk of binding, jack-knifing, or flipping
Detachable - makes it easy to use on multiple bikes
Attaches easily to any motorcycle with a hitch support
I could definitely tell the difference in being able to lean into corners as opposed to not having anything. But, if the trailer is fully loaded (like mine was) in very tight corners this allows the trailer to follow a slightly different forward motion than the bike and tends to push you to side a little. It really helps but I think I'll be switching to the swivel hitch they sell instead. I'll keep it for lighter trailering.

this is a must have when touring with a trailer. allows you to lean into turns without binding. and less than 1/3 the price of those spendy swivel or hiem hitches.

High quality; arrived quickly. Purchased for use with large/heavy wood chipper/shredder...towed by my UTV. The very rough terrain on our land made this pivoting ball a necessity (similar issues with binding). Mounting the coupler onto it takes practice, but it works like a charm!

I purchased as a gift for a friend. I expect it will work as described.
Take corners like a breeze!5

A friend of mine recommended that I purchase the swivel coupler for my trailer to make cornering easy with no binding but when I saw all that would have to go into switching the coupler I decided to try the Pivot Ball. It is amazing!! I tow the trailer that my dog rides in and taking corners is no different than riding without the trailer, well I can't scrape the pegs, but it is great!! It is way less expensive than the coupler, easier to install, just hook up and go!! You will love it, I do!

Works great. The only ( tiny) problem is when I back out of the garage it creates a slow response to turning. It is awesome in all other ways.

first motorcycle trip with pulling a trailer. with the freedom pivot tilt ball you didn't even notice the trail was on the back. traveled 1300 Mi in a few days with no problems at at all. would highly recommend.
Best motorcycle hitch ball to date5

I just purchased my second pivot hitch ball. This is in my opinion an indispensable item for towing a trailer with a motorcycle. There are arguments out there that a swivel hitch is the answer, but I wouldn’t be too sure about that. I can move the pivot hitch ball from bike to bike if I want to (and should have when I sold my previous bike); try that with a swivel hitch! And the pivot ball is about $100 or so cheaper. Can’t go wrong with this ball, very glad I found it!

Built well and does exactly as advertised. Only down side is I live in Canada and I had to drive to the US to pick it up.

I haven't had a chance to put it to the test yet with all the flooding going on around here, but I see no reason it will not work out fine
